MTG x TMNT: Main Set Reveals
Before we get into the many unique products and collections on offer, let’s take a look at the full lineup from the main Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion that were revealed by the developers. Standard booster packs for the expansion are set at $6.99 per pack, while premium boosters are priced at $37.99 per pack.
Let's unpack a few shell-shocking details. To begin, a new gameplay mechanic called Sneak, inspired by the pre-existing Ninjutsu ability, where gamers can play big creatures onto the game field when an attacking creature isn’t blocked. The big difference in this case is that this new ability can affect spells that aren’t creatures as well. The designers also took the opportunity to refine the ability a bit (It is treated as playing a spell, as opposed to the older mechanic). Ninjutsu isn't going away, but chances are players will encounter Sneak in future sets moving forward.
Should we go back to the Kamigawa plane, we might use Ninjutsu because that's where it originated and it is iconic of that world,” an experienced game designer stated. “However in other settings, since the rules are cleaner and Sneak will be Standard-legal, it's more likely we’ll use Sneak.”
Another version of the leader Turtle, Sewer Samurai card, is among four special cards with unique artwork designed exclusively for the set by TMNT co-creator the co-creator.
Additionally, if you're shocked by the rules text on Turtles Forever card, which allows playing cards outside of your deck, many players were. Yet according to the developers, it’s now a legal card in every format of Magic.
In any case, below are the highly unusual full-art lands from the TMNT set:
Following the company’s existing guidelines, these cards are fully legal in Magic’s Standard play. The designers state they took care to make sure the cards and gameplay elements worked smoothly with other Standard sets like Edge of Eternities.
“I led the development for 15 months and we knew it would be in standard and what other sets would be near it in Standard,” the designer commented. “We designed to ensure that there's synergy with certain expansions like Edge of Eternities.”
For example, each of TMNT and Edge of Eternities feature a Izzet archetype focused on artifact cards.
“They combine to provide the pieces for a fun Standard-legal deck,” the designer says.
Preconstructed Commander: Turtle Power
Following a decision to design any Commander precons for Spider-Man and the forthcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender collaborations, Wizards is reversing course with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It’s only one precon, but it includes six different legendary creatures who could work as your Commander depending on how you combine them (five cards have a special partner ability named “Character Select” that lets you start with two commanders in the command area rather than only one). Take a look for yourself:
This Commander precon is priced at $69.99, though the price may rise due to popularity. Sources told that it includes 43 new cards in total, which translates to an extra thirty-seven TMNT-themed cards besides the six legendary creatures shown earlier. (Calculating roughly, that also means approximately 20 reprints if we assume the precon comes with 37 lands.)
What will the Turtles edition of the iconic Sol Ring appear? We’ll just have to wait and find out.

Turtle Team-Up
Lastly, Wizards are doing something new with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as part of its continued initiative to create Magic game products aimed at new players. Here, Turtle Team-Up is a unique product of prebuilt decks that allow two players join forces against a “Boss” enemy deck that plays automatically.
The concept is that each Boss card grants special abilities to the creature cards included in the Boss deck. Each Boss automatically plays an additional card per turn, and you’ll start off battling {one Boss|
